Requirements

Before you begin, you must:
  • Be an Opal Admin
  • Be on version 1.1045.0, if you self-host Opal

1. Retrieve your keys in Anthropic

The app takes up to two keys. Provide either one, or both:
  • Admin Key: a Claude Console admin key. Opal uses it to sync your Anthropic users, workspaces, and workspace access, and to grant and revoke workspace membership. Without it, Opal can’t sync users or workspaces.
  • Enterprise API Key: a Claude Enterprise API key, created by your organization’s Primary Owner in claude.ai under Organization settings > API. Opal uses it to read connector usage and MCP activity. Opal needs only the read:analytics and read:compliance_activities scopes.
Save each key, as you won’t be able to retrieve it later.

2. Create Anthropic app in Opal

In Opal, go to Inventory > +App and select Anthropic. Name your Anthropic app, provide a description, and enter the keys you retrieved in step 1. After you save the app, you can import roles from … > Import items.
